If only High Definition video format players (either HD-DVD or Blu-Ray Discs) were just a little cheaper, like under 150 dollars! Now the lowest possible price for a Blu-Ray player is $500, although a 20GB PS3 would be more fun in the end.
On top of that, the cheapest HD-DVD player is technically the USB add-on for the XBOX360, which runs for $200 dollars (although Wal-Mart will soon carry the XBOX360 HD-DVD player for less- about 130 dollars). And yes, some may argue that the HD-DVD add-on requires an XBOX360 for it to be used, so it is more along the price range of $600.
But of course, these people are wrong. They are obviously unaware of the fact that the HD-DVD drive can and does work perfectly fine in Windows XP, with a little magichackery, of course. Either way, prices are still far above what I would like to see in a plausible technology upgrade for my movie viewing pleasure.
Likewise, HDTV’s are still fairly expensive, although the prices have come down to below $500 for sub-32 inch sets, which is always a good thing. Just as I waited for LCD monitor computer monitors to get cheaper, I am going to wait until there is an acceptable HDTV that is around 40″ and is below 800 dollars. Unfortunately, this may never happen, but we’ll have to see.
