According to an interview with Rob Cohen from IGN, Jet Li is set to play the titular villain in the upcoming movie, supposedly coming out in 2008.

While I can’t be sure why this choice was made, since I don’t recall mummification being a technique ever put to use in China (or, for that matter any real mythology that resembles Egyptian polytheism). But, I do remember playing games like Onimusha (yes, I know this is Japanese), which feature cursed/undead armies, so that type of storyline could play out well if there are Chinese legends that have similar plots. I cannot say whether this movie will be good or bad, since I enjoyed the first two and only saw the good half of The Scorpion King. I can say that the photoshop that I made of “Jet Li the Anubite” may be creepier than the Saving Private Nemo chop that I did earlier.

As far as the story goes, Alex O’Connell, the mischievous son of Brendan Fraser’s character Rick O’Connell, will be about twenty and play the major role in the movie. This sounds interesting, although I am more excited about Michelle Yeoh being in the film, since she is a hottie.
